Michelle, “Eddie’s wife,” said: Our family is heartbroken and saddened over the loss of my husband and best friend, Adelmiro “Eddie” Acosta. Eddie passed away on November 25th 2018 at the young age of 54 years old.

Eddie was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in January of 2017. He fought hard to beat cancer and endured many treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation, stem cell transplant, and bone marrow transplant. Throughout his cancer journey, Eddie remained positive and determined. Eddie has remained in remission since February 2018, thanks to a selfless young woman who donated her bone marrow. However, many risks and complications come from a bone marrow transplant, including GVHD. Eddie got GVHD post bone marrow transplant, in addition to fungi lung pneumonia, which caused stress to his already compromised and weakened immune system. Eddie fought hard all the way to the end and as a family, we are so proud of his courageous fight.

Eddie’s accomplishments in his 54 years are nothing short of admirable. Eddie joined the Air Force in June 1982 as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist. He separated from the Air Force in May 1986 and immediately joined the Air Force Reserves as an Air Reserve Technician at Travis Air Force Base. In February 2002, Eddie transitioned to a Biomedical Craftsmen at Travis. Eddie served as an activated Aircraft Systems Superintendent from 2003 to 2004. Eddie retired from the Air Force Reserves in 2005 with 23 years of service as a Senior Master Sergeant. In 2006, Eddie became employed as a Clinical Systems Engineer for Kaiser Permanente Medical Group. Eddie received a Masters in Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management from DeVry University in December 2016. He worked for Kaiser for roughly 10 years. In October 2016, Eddie joined Colin Construction Company as the Director of Business Development and Marketing. As a true family oriented business, Colin Construction Company supported Eddie and the Acosta Family throughout his 2-year journey.

Above all his professional accolades, Eddie was most proud of his wife of 35 years, and 3 children, Mario, Marisa, and Marina. Eddie was a proud “papa” to his two granddaughters, Mariana (age 7) and Emmy (age 2).

The Acosta Family is appreciative for all the support we have received during this difficult time. We are grateful from the bottom of our hearts to have the care and comfort of our closest friends and family.
